چکیده

A wireless charging station (WCS) transfers energy wirelessly to mobile nodes within its charging region. This paper investigates the impact of node speed on the throughput of WCS overlaid mobile networks when packet transmissions are constrained by the energy status of each node. The energy provision for each node depends on its moving speed. A slow-moving node outside the charging region is unable to receive energy from WCSs for a long time, while one inside the charging region consistently recharges the battery. Reflecting on these phenomena, we design a two-dimensional Markov chain, where the states respectively represent the remaining energy and the distance to the nearest WCS. Solving this enables the following theoretic insights. Firstly, the throughput is a non-decreasing function of node speed. With faster node speed, the throughput converges to that of the independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) mobility model where nodes can move anywhere without being restricted by their previous positions. Secondly, if the battery capacity of each node is infinite, the throughput is equivalent to that of the i.i.d. mobility model regardless of node speed. Finally, the throughput scaling is calculated as Θ ( min ( 1, mn ) c( m n ) ) , where n and m represent the number of nodes and WCSs, respectively.

LEBRP - A Lightweight and Energy Balancing Routing Protocol for Energy-Constrained Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

A wireless ad hoc network typically refers to any set of wireless networks where all devices have equal status on a network and are free to associate with any other wireless ad hoc network devices in their range. As the nature of these networks, they commonly do not have external power supplies, and each node has a limited internal power source. In this paper, we put forward a new routing proto...

An Energy Efficient Clustering Method using Bat Algorithm and Mobile Sink in Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of sensor nodes with limited energy. Energy efficiency is an important issue in WSNs as the sensor nodes are deployed in rugged and non-care areas and consume a lot of energy to send data to the central station or sink if they want to communicate directly with the sink. Recently, the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol is employed as a low-power, low-cost, and low rat...

Hierarchal Grouping Strategy with Adaptive Power Tuning in ZigBee Wireless Sensor Networks

Designing wireless sensor networks should meet appropriate parameters such as quality of service (QoS) defined by different users. The variable physical conditions of the environment, processing and transmission power limitations and limited communication capabilities are the most important obstacles that influence QoS parameters such as throughput, delay, reliability and network lifetime. The ...

Energy-Saving in Wireless Sensor Networks Based on Optimization Sink Movement Control

A sensor network is made up of a large number of sensors with limited energy. Sensors collect environmental data then send them to the sink. Energy efficiency and thereby increasing the lifetime of sensor networks is important. Direct transfer of the data from each node to the central station will increase energy consumption. Previous research has shown that the organization of nodes in cluster...
